Morse Code Numbers
Every number in Morse code has five symbols. 1 to 5 start with dots (1 is ·−−−−, 5 is ·····), 6 to 9 start with dashes (6 is −····), and 0 is five dashes (−−−−−). Tap a number to hear it.

The easy pattern
- 1 to 5 start with dots. The number of dots is the number: 3 is ···−− (three dots, then dashes to make five).
- 6 to 9 start with dashes. Take away 5 to get the number of dashes: 7 is −−··· (two dashes, then dots).
- 0 is five dashes, and 5 is five dots.

Questions people ask
How do you write 0 in Morse code?
Zero is five dashes: −−−−−.
Why do all Morse code numbers have five symbols?
Using the same length for every digit makes numbers easy to tell apart from letters, which have one to four symbols. It also makes the pattern simple to learn.
What are cut numbers?
Radio operators sometimes shorten numbers to save time, for example T (one dash) for 0 or N for 9. These "cut numbers" are only used where both sides expect them, such as signal reports in contests.
What does 73 mean in Morse code?
In radio, 73 means "best regards". 88 means "love and kisses". They are sent as the numbers: 73 is −−··· ···−−.
